Location: San Mateo, CA
Client: Chabad North Peninsula & Preschool
Architect: Studio Bondy
Creo was asked to help envision the landscape for this new state of the art Chabad & Preschool in San Mateo. Working closely with Studio Bondy and Chabad N. Peninsula, we helped develop the program for phase 1 including a new streetscape and entry experience off Mt. Diablo Avenue, a tall security fence around the phase 2 outdoor play area and a roof terrace, large enough for an outdoor Chuppah ceremony. The shapes and patterns of the planting and the fence reflect Chabad symbology and the Jewish religion. On the 2nd floor roof terrace, the ‘four species’ (Citron, Date Palms, Myrtle and Willow) relevant in the Sukkot, are potted in order of significance, along with 3 varieties of sedum to create a striking terrace landscape. Creo was responsible for the landscape architectural scope for this project.
